“In bringing up children, spend on them half as much money and twice as much time. “ ~ Author Unknown
Spending quality time with your child is the best thing you can do to develop a good relationship. You don’t have to spend lots of money – the simple things are often the best and they’re what your children will remember. Here are some fun ideas:
- Make a “den” by pegging sheets to chairs.
- Take a picnic to the park, or have a “carpet” picnic in the lounge (or in the “den”).
- Bake cakes together.
- Make a pizza.
- Play “make believe” – schools, tea parties, “Pizza Express”.
- Go for a bike ride.
- Plant some seeds.
- Make a collage – use pasta, cut out pictures, old pieces of material.
- Play “I Spy”.
- Dance.
- Read a story, or make up your own.
- Make “mud pies” in the garden.
- Play “Hide and Seek”.
- Blow bubbles and try to catch them.
- Play “Simon Says”.
- Follow your child’s lead.
Remember to have fun with your child and enjoy them – sadly, they won’t be children for long.
